Collaborative notes

T.Knerr: collect list of funding sources and estimate how much we can collect, distinction between our members (many, low per user) and donors (few with large amounts)
E.Villar: What the Board needs to do in order to support the committee do its work effectively
individual donors: "wikipedia christmas" and/or specific projects (buying servers etc.)
R.Olbricht: factor in existing work from Fundraising committee
G.Rischard: current fundraising, how to care about sponsors, "deconflicting" (HOT?), "keeping control", "ensure proper delegation and reporting", hire someone for caring for donors, government donors?
E.Villar: fundraising drives a la Wikimedia Foundation to target individual and not companies; revisiting corporate membership structure; rework (or entirely replace) tiers, goal to get much more money as regular payments
A.Gunn: Collect stories that demonstrate OSM's impact, have that material available when you fundraise (storytelling!)

Action items

  • Board to rework Corporate Membership tiers
  • Guillaume, Mikel, Roland to attend AspirationTech seminar about fundraising

Pending issue, not addressed

  • Think of hiring a person to focus on fundraising (HOT for example has a staff member for this) and how to get community buy-in
