Working Group Minutes/MWG 2022-12-06

From OpenStreetMap Foundation

The Membership Working Group met on 2022-12-06 at 1800 UTC via Big Blue Button

Meeting was to introduce new member Taylor Higgins, not a formal meeting where votes were taken, but minutes were taken nonetheless

Participants

  • Michael Spreng (datendelphin)
  • Guillaume Rischard (Stereo)
  • Steve Friedl (SJFriedl)
  • Taylor Higgins

We all introduced ourselves, plus gave an overview of what MWG does.

Taylor asked about how best to get started, due to having access to personal member information, a nondisclosure agreement must be signed; this was provided to her for review, will be filed with Dorothea.

Michael shared his screen to show the MWG Wiki, gave tour of tools we use CiviCRM (membership), OTRS (ticketing), mailing list management.

Dorothea does a very good job wrangling membership issues, but MWG really ought to be more involved.

Taylor said she likes interacting with people, so perhaps responding to email tickets from members is a good place to start.

We discussed communications channels (IRC, etc.)

Taylor had to leave at 30 minutes after the hour, Steve left also.

Discussion about a newly detected CiviCRM bug. Specifically in the plug-in developed for the OSMF for verifying active mappers via oauth. If the renewal fails for any reason, the (still valid) membership is put into pending state. This results in a new membership when a subsequent renewal attempt succeeds. The new membership might not be eligible to vote because of the 90 days rule. A fix is needed. Michael is going to engage the consultants we previously contracted for CiviCRM work.
