Topics

Google Summer of Code 2020

OpenStreetMap has received 34 eligible applications this year (plus 2 incomplete ones). Our GSoC mentors and admins have spent the past weeks grading them on EtherCalc.

At this meeting, we discussed the promising students for each project idea. As a baseline, we will be asking for a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 5 slots. However, we have identified two applications that may additionally be eligible if we manage to find suitable mentors for them in time, so the total number of requested slots may yet rise to 6 or 7. Tordanik and Polyglot will be reaching out to potential mentors.

Some students have submitted applications to other projects as well – we hope we'll be the lucky organization to recruit their help this year!

Tordanik will send a summary of the meeting's results to the mentors' email list so that those who have not participated in this meeting can still request changes.
