Reportage and action item updates

On action item: Tom Hummel to contact Falk Zscheile, a lawyer from the German local chapter, and get his opinion on the general stance of mid-level governmental agencies

  • Did not talk to him yet.
  • Feedback from other people from German authorities:
    • They will probably not choose CC0 licence – don’t want to forego attribution.
    • They want the German look-alike CC-BY.
  • Topic also discussed by FOSSGIS – they also don’t know which licence the authorities should choose.

German look-alike CC-BY licence: https://osmfoundation.org/wiki/Licence/Licence_Compatibility#German_DL-DE/by-2-0

  • Caution: English translation is full of errors.
  • Has no DRM provisions.
  • Has other quirks.

Tom Hummel is creating a document which he’ll share with the LWG.

French have their own licence: https://www.etalab.gouv.fr/licence-ouverte-open-licence/

  • Solved the issues by saying that they consider themselves compatible with CC-BY and ODC-BY (ODbL minus the share-alike).
  • Their licence has attribution requirements.

It might make sense to have a governmental licence which provides explicit compatibility with OSM.

Any updates on reported attribution cases?
